Erie Steps it Up in 2nd Week of Regular Season PDF Print E-mail

Erie Travelled in style this weekend to California of Pa for the annual Cockfight Tournament. Traveling the furthest of all teams, and playing the early game...Erie stepped on the field ready to play on Saturday. After a dismal first week against Cleveland, the Erie Boys went up 7-0 by the halfway point. Erie opened up the scoring in the 2nd half with tries by JJ Brown, Adam Mook, and Jeremy Jaeger...to end the game on top at 31-7.

Our 2nd game was against Fairmont College, who proved to be a very strong team. Fairmont struck first with a converted try, and were later answered with an try from Erie wing Casey Jones. The hard-hitting game went into halftime with Erie down 7-5. After 2 costly penalties directly in front of the posts, Erie took the lead for good with 2 penalty kicks...with the final score being 11-7.

Erie narrowly missed the opportunity to play in the championship match, as the CAL old-boys scored 1 more point than Erie on the day. Instead, Erie had to settle for the 3rd place match against WVU for the 2nd time. Erie proved that the first match was no fluke, and went on to win the game 27-7 to clinch 3rd Place Overall!

Nice Job Erie Boys! We all played together, and hard...and looked like one hell of a team out there!
